invest in our youth day
The UFSC: Urban Financial Services Coalition is investing in the future
of young people by introducing educational programs targeted at students
in high-risk urban and economically disadvantaged communities.
Beginning March 31st, UFSC chapters throughout the country will partner
with Junior Achievement to launch a series of educational programs in
elementary, middle and high schools. Programs are designed to teach
youngsters personal growth skills.
UFSC members, representing the financial services industry and the
public and private sectors, will volunteer as role models for students
to teach them personal finance, entrepreneurial skills, goal planning
and the importance of personal achievement. Since it began in New York
City in 1974, UFSC has fostered educational programs and provided scholarships
for youth entering college to pursue careers in financial services.
Realizing education does make a difference, UFSC believes students benefit
from learning basic, personal growth skills that will prepare them for
the workforce and make them better citizens in their communities.
Junior Achievement is one of the oldest and largest business and economic
non-profit educational organizations in the world and has taught youngsters
entrepreneurial skills since 1919.
