invest in our youth program
Program Overview
The objective of the program is to teach youth attending elementary
schools in high-risk urban and economically disadvantaged communities,
personal growth curriculums. Chapters may implement their own programs
or Junior Achievement curriculums which focus on personal finance, community
development, entrepreneurial skills, goal planning and personal achievement.
Chapters may chose to participate in one or more of the following three
modules:
Module I
A one day mentoring program where the Chapters sends volunteers to
a school to teach personal economics to high risk students. Chapters
may teach Junior Achievement or materials developed by UFSC members.
The one day program may involve teaching all or parts of the five week
Junior Achievement curriculum.
Module II
A five week mentoring program on personal economics targeted at high
risk elementary school students. Volunteers spend an hour a week for
five weeks teaching an elementary school class (K - 5th grades). Chapters
may use their own program materials or the Junior Achievement curriculum.
Module III
Children will shadow volunteers at work. This module has two options:
- A member can volunteer to host a student at their job for part
or all of a day.
- A chapter can arrange for a group of children to visit a bank or
company for part or all of a day (i.e. Federal Reserve Bank, Stock
Exchange, etc.)
Junior Achievement
Junior Achievement was founded in 1919 and is the oldest and largest
