On October 29, 2017, Jasper Smith, former chapter President and current board member of the UFSC San Francisco Bay Area chapter was recognized at the **“2017 In The Spirit Awards“** in Oakland, CA. Jasper was one of four recipients to receive the “Trailblazer Award”.

The In The Spirit Awards Committee consists of Educators, Clergy, Media and the Community at large. The goal of the Awards Ceremony is to empower, acknowledge and honor those who have excelled with outstanding achievement. The areas of focus are education, community service, entertainment artistry and professional vocation. This event highlights those who contribute to society in a positive manner.
