UFSC partners with Kauffman Foundation
Urban Financial Services Coalition has partnered with The Kauffman Foundation to deliver Inclusive Cultural Competency Experience in the Kansas City market.
In 2022 UFSC partnered with the Kauffman Foundation to pilot the Inclusive Cultural Competency Experience (ICCE), a program to create a safe and non-competitive place to have candid conversations about biases in the financial services industry.
Through several sessions participants discussed
- How banks should proceed post-pandemic with the Community Reinvestment Act
- Open discussion regarding how banks and regulatory agencies can partner to better serve the community
- Common challenges BSOs encounter when working with underserved businesses, and best practices to partner with BSOs
Outcomes include
- Established a non-intimidating experience that allowed voices to be heard and not judged
- The ability to connect with a diverse group of leaders who agree that systems and behaviors must change in order to provide implicit protection
- Created a networking space for businesses, professionals, and change agents in Kansas City
- Opened the door to culturally conscious conversations about the economic impact on marginalized communities
UFSC thanks The Kauffman Foundation for their partnership in the program.
