Mark S. Tillman is the 34th General President of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Under his leadership, Alpha Phi Alpha became a founding donor of the Smithsonian National African American Museum of History and Culture in Washington D.C., raised over a million dollars in contributions to the March of Dimes-March for Babies campaigns, and received a one-million-dollar grant to support the mentoring of young men.
Professionally, Brother Tillman has over thirty years of information technology experience. He is currently a senior IT project manager with Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He is also a former chairman of an employee-network group where he promoted and executed programs which enhance professional development and diversity within the IT profession.
Brother Tillman is a committed supporter of mentoring. He is a three-time mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters and he is a recipient of the organization’s Community Impact Award. He has been honored as a “Person of the Week” by the local ABC affiliated news station WXYZ and the 100 Black Men of Metro Detroit for his dedication to mentoring.
Brother Tillman is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and a graduate of Dillard University with a degree in computer science. He is married to Velicia, his wife of over twenty-five years. Brother Tillman is currently serving on the Volunteer Leadership Council of the March of Dimes and as a board member of the Boy Scouts – Great Lakes Field Service Council.
